Submitted on 4/11/2018 Review title of UnknownFantastic!Owlboy is a fantastic 2D adventure game with tons of charm to spare. This game is clearly a labor of love by the developers. Beautiful 2D artwork with nice animation, great music and accompanying effects, tight controls. The only problem I have is that it's one of those games where I keep telling myself I'll just reach the next spot or just do one more thing but then end up captivated again. Many 'AAA' games could learn a thing or two from this gem.
Highly recommended. Submitted on 4/13/2018 Review title of UnknownBest game of 2018?If the phrase 'story driven metroidvania' gets your attention, then purchase Owlboy immediately. It is a beautiful, multilayered experience and is about as unique as a game can get. One thing that I really like about it, besides literally everything else, is that it is just the right level of challenging to allow the player to properly enjoy the story. It may seem like a small nuance, but it can make or break a game. The term 'modern classic' is beyond overused, but Owlboy is one of the few titles that justify it.

Characters are full of life and memorable. The themes of loss, friendship, respect, and responsibilities carry forward into the story.
Making each little victory mean so much more in this bleak situation Otus finds himself in. I loved this game and would recommend the art and dedication of D-Pad studio any day!
A solid control scheme, gorgeous locations, great characters, HUGE bosses and an Urgent story, with a small glimmer of hope. Its the whole package.
Only cons i would mention is a lack of rewards for completionist players. If they added an extra ending, dlc, fast travel checkpoints, or perks for a new game+ it would be a perfect game! Submitted on 6/5/2019 Review title of Trojan ZorseA Decade of Work That Definitely Paid OffOwlboy is a stunningly gorgeous game with fun gameplay and an engaging story. The core mechanic of the gameplay is pretty unique, allowing you to pick up and drop companions and utilize their abilities while you fly.
Even though some dialogue and story elements are borderline fan-fic levels of bad, the campiness of it all still has charm in a way that makes roll your eyes and smile at the same time. Honestly, the fact that the devs spent nearly 10 years crafting this game should be reason enough to get this game if you're on the fence. It will be money well spent to see the hard work put into the environments, the characters, and the overall living, breathing world of Owlboy.
